We've always believed steel was a solid investment — and for good reason.

Our very business was based on the firm belief that steel is a superior building material. Today more than ever, builders, homeowners and architects are discovering the cost competitive, performance enhancing and environmental advantages of steel. It's stronger than wood. It won't buckle under pressure. And it can be engineered to withstand some pretty extreme conditions: manmade or natural. Take a look at some of the reasons a steel building may be a viable solution for you.

Benefits at a glance

In addition to the many environmental and economical advantages of steel, it also:

  • Resists corrosion and decay better than any other material
  • Is more resistant to fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and other disasters
  • Does not warp: stays straight and true preventing air leaks and costly energy loss
  • Is recyclable
  • Is cost competitive. While prices for other materials have increased, U.S. produced steel, adjusted for inflation, is 30 percent lower today than it was in 1984!
  • Offers high strength
  • Meets or exceeds all seismic code design standards
  • Is produced in strict accordance with national standards so there are no regional variances in quality
  • Is elastic by physical nature and engineered to "flex" throughout a seismic event (vs. concrete tilt-up and CMU block wall buildings)
  • Allows fast, firm construction timetables since buildings take an average of 1/3 less time to erect than other types of construction

No wood in the ground

Steel is stronger than wood. And unlike pole barns, Web Steel™ structures take advantage of this durable material with a steel main frame; you'll see the difference inside. You won't have to worry about twisting, splitting, warping or settling. And because we don't place any wood in the ground, neither termites nor dry rot are a concern. In addition, we can span greater distances between trusses to accommodate wider overhead doors in the sidewalls.

Contractor advantages

Web Steel buildings are quick to construct and ready to assemble upon arrival. Statistics state that steel buildings take one-third less time to erect than other types of construction, which allows architects and project managers to set a fast construction timetable — and stick to it. What's more, you can always count on straight walls, square corners, and less clean up at your job site.

Appearance and aesthetics

In outward appearance, many Web Steel buildings are indistinguishable from other kinds of buildings. Various exterior roofing, siding and trim colors are available, and treatments such as brick, stucco, wainscoting, cottage stone, T1-11, Hardy plank or board, cedar … you name it, finish a building beautifully. Be sure to let us know any special design considerations you have in mind when the time comes to plan your building. Meanwhile, visit our photo gallery to see what some of our customers have done.

Easy assembly

Web Steel buildings are precision cut and designed for quick and easy bolt-together assembly. They include complete, comprehensive structural plans stamped by our licensed engineers, along with foundation drawings and building calculations. Your building will be engineered specifically for your site and to the most recent UBC code. Whether you decide to construct your own building or hire a contractor, you'll have the structural plans you need to apply for your permit.

Lease-to-own

More than 80% of the companies in the U.S. today purchase assets through a lease-to-own program. Why? Business people realize the many benefits leasing offers as a means to acquire assets for their businesses. And a Web Steel Building will definitely be an asset for your business. Funding is available for 100% of your building project, including delivery and installation. Visit our leasing page for details.

Cost-effective

The price of steel has been relatively constant for more than a decade. Traditional framing materials have been erratic, growing at a much faster rate than inflation. Steel ages slowly, is non-organic, and is dimensionally stable. In other words, it won't rot, warp, split, crack, creep, expand or contract (with moisture content). All of this adds up to a more cost-effective and stable building over long periods of time.

Non-load bearing walls

Steel allows you to enjoy larger open spaces without sacrificing structural safety. The strength of steel can accommodate larger open spaces without columns or beams needed by load-bearing walls. This spells flexibility: you can put divisions wherever you want, and you don't need a permit to take them down.

Strong and long lasting

With its durability and strength, steel framing has one of the highest strength to weight ratios of any construction material. It won't crack, warp, twist, rot, split or settle like wood framing might. Aside from sheer strength, steel joints are fastened with screws that create a stronger connection than nails used in traditional wood framing. This results in joints that are more resistant to wind and other natural and manmade forces. In some cases, the impervious nature of steel lends itself to lower insurance premiums. (Check with your agent for specifics.)

Environmentally sound

Steel can be recycled over and over again and still maintain its physical and chemical properties. All steel framing contains a 25% minimum of recycled steel. On a broader scale, 64% of ALL steel products on the market are recycled. That's more than any other material in the U.S. including glass, paper, plastic and aluminum combined! These recycling programs reduce the solid waste stream resulting in less landfill. Steel mills have drastically reduced emissions too, so you can feel even more secure that steel is an earth friendly choice.
